'Dee Hi' - Think the first two syllables of the word 'dehydrated'.
Dehydrated cocktail garnishes! These elegant, visually stunning fruits and flowers can be a part of the drink itself, or simply placed on top or clipped to the rim of a glass.
DEHY garnishes provide a unique aroma and are a fantastic aid for stunning cocktail presentations. After all, guests drink with their eyes first!
Because of our process of drying fruit slowly, and at low temperatures, the natural oils are locked in - giving a more concentrated, distinct aroma that releases more as the garnish steeps in your cocktail.
This makes our DEHY oranges and lemons a great substitute in a Negroni, Old Fashioned, or other stirred boozy cocktails that use a peel for a citrus oil finish.
While we primarily make garnishes to help beautify your cocktails, these all natural dried fruits also infuse into spirits well. However, most of them will not add any meaningful flavor to the drink itself.
Because of our incredibly low-moisture content, we have a two-year shelf life on all of our dried fruit garnishes.
If stored properly, DEHY garnishes last Indefinitely (see storage question below).
Our dehydrated garnishes keep best in a cool, dark, airtight place. As with all natural products, light, heat, oxygen and moisture can degrade the potential for storage. Just don’t reach into the jar with wet hands or leave the container open and you’re good to go!
Never keep them in a refrigerator or in direct sunlight for extended periods of time. The ideal storage temperature is between 70°-85°F.
All of our dried fruit garnishes are considered edible, but rinds and skins taste about as good as they do before they are dried.
While they’re mostly meant to enhance visual impact and cut down on labor and prep costs, we’ll ask this: would you eat a lime or lemon by itself? Maybe, maybe not. However, oranges, apples, pineapples, grapefruit and other fruits might be a different story.
Bottom line: You be the judge!
Short answer: a good, long while. Because our process removes up to 98% of the moisture in every slice, you’ll finish your drink long before your garnish rehydrates.
All current DEHY garnishes are gluten-, soy- and nut-free. They do not contain dairy, eggs, grains or fish. They are simply fruit and flowers, with nothing added and nothing removed except the water.
