Oaxacan Negroni
The Awoken Negroni is a modern twist on the classic Negroni, which dates back to the early 20th century. The original Negroni was created when a guest requested a stronger cocktail than his usual Americano, a mix of sweet vermouth, Campari, and sparkling water. The bartender replaced the water with gin, creating a new, stronger drink. The Awoken Negroni takes this classic recipe and adds a twist by substituting gin with Mezcal, giving it an earthy, smoky flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 oz Illegal Mezcal Hoven
- 1 oz Campari infused with rosemary
- 1 oz sweet vermouth
- Ice
- 3 sprigs of DEHY Lavender - Hand Cut
- 1 slice of DEHY Grapefruit - Fine Cut
Instructions
- Start with a mixing glass.
- Combine 1 oz Illegal Mezcal Hoven, 1 oz Campari infused with rosemary, and 1 oz sweet vermouth.
- Add ice to the mixing glass.
- Stir the mixture for 20 seconds.
- Prepare a rocks glass with a large fat ice cube.
- Strain the cocktail from the mixing glass into the rocks glass.
- Garnish with three sprigs of DEHY Lavender - Hand Cut pierced through a slice of DEHY Grapefruit - Fine Cut.
